HISTORY

The origin of the spa dates back to ancient times as it was mentioned by the Greek geographer Strabo and the Roman historian Pliny the Elder.
The Greeks who colonized the island under the name of “Phithaecusa” used its thermo-mineral waters to heal their diseases.
The Romans – real lovers of thermal baths – put the Casamicciola springs under the protection of Apollo, who was also a god of healing and medicine, and built opulent thermal baths, thus making this place a favourite healing and entertainment destination.
